Customized Training Program - Effective Communication Skills

Communicating with confidence and competence are skills that can be taught. This program offers a host of tips and techniques to communicate effectively during the various interpersonal encounters you will face in an organization.

This one-day program (which also can be customized for administrative support personnel) is geared for professionals that are interested in improving their interpersonal communication skills.

Objectives:

  • Identify the key and diverse social types that are needed to establish a versatile communication style
  • Develop effective interaction plans for dealing effectively with different motivation profiles
  • Handle yourself with poise and confidence when dealing with difficult people
  • Use non-verbals to add power to your interpersonal communications
  • Distinguish the high performance behaviors necessary for effective teaming and group problem solving (optional design feature)
  • Identify appropriate conflict management styles to use in situations
  • Incorporate effective active listening and feedback skills
  • Adapt effective telephone courtesy behaviors (optional design feature)

    - Active listening exercise - including non-verbals for
     establishing trust
    - Components of effective listening exercise - "Effective
     Listening Profile"
    - Other influence behaviors for personal effectiveness
    - Key principles for interaction
III. Dealing with Individual Differences
    - DISC components and other models to understand
     behavioral styles
    - Applying McClelland's theory of motivation to a real "on-the-job"      communication issue
    - Difficult people scenarios - small group brainstorm on
     effective strategies

IV. Team Dynamics Survival Exercise
    - review of effective/ineffective communications
V. Conflict Management Styles
    - Thomas-Killman Conflict Mode Instrument
